Lockheed U-2 Take Off and Landing, United States Air Force

The aircraft on display at the museum is the last U-2A built. During the 1960s, it made 285 flights to gather data on high-altitude, clear-air turbulence and in the 1970s it flight tested reconnaissance systems. The Lockheed U-2 'Dragon Lady' had its first flight 70 years ago today, 1st August 1955. This U-2S at The Royal International Air Tattoo is newer but still almost 40 years old.
