Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said they were closing the Strait of Hormuz until the U.S. blockade was lifted. Two Indian-flagged ships reported being hit as they tried to cross the passage.

The president earlier expressed confidence both sides were near agreement, as Iranian sources say fresh talks are set in Pakistan on Monday.

Iran has once again imposes restrictions on the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday. This comes less than 24 hours after the country said the strait was completely open again.

The standoff over the Strait of Hormuz escalated again Saturday as Iran reversed its reopening of the crucial waterway and fired on ships attempting to pass, in retaliation after the United States pressed ahead with its blockade of Iranian ports.
