An attempted robbery of an armored truck outside a south suburban bank sparked a large police response Wednesday morning.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner released the name of the man fatally shot by Elyria police officers Wednesday after an armed robbery, chase, and hostage situation.

Pershing Powell will spend the next 10 years behind bars for his role in a December 2024 armored car robbery, according to federal authorities.
