Teddi previously announced that her cancer was gone in October 2025, after a three-year battle.

Teddi Mellencamp discovered she had stage II melanoma following a routine checkup in 2022, after which it metastasized.

"God gives his toughest battles to his strongest warriors. That was the line she lived by. And she was the strongest person that I knew, the funniest person that I ever knew," said Chris Wilson.
